And Genesis 2:21 says this. “And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; (22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
(23) And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. (24) Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” God made them (the man and wife, that is) in His own image. – Gen. 1:26-27 God blessed them – 1:27 God commanded them to be multiply – 1:27 God declared the first couple to be “one flesh” – 2:24 As you can easily see, the first Book of the Bible gives us the beginning of the family. This is where God’s view on the family begins. It’s not difficult to see or to believe that this is the way God began the world. And Jesus commented on these words from Genesis. He said this. Matthew 19:4 “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, (5) And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? (6) Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” When He quoted this passage He reminded the Jewish leaders of His day that God made us male and female. Two become “one flesh” in marriage. And in marriage God joins two into one. But, as you all know, the truth is under attack quite viciously today. And that should remind us that the world, the flesh, and the devil have never liked it when the truth has prevailed. |
The family is God’s plan as much as the Church is His plan as much as salvation is His plan. Just because the world rejects the fact of marriage and family doesn’t mean you and I have to le the world pour us into its mold. Let me show you what I mean.
A family is still defined as “a group of individuals related to each other by blood, marriage, birth, or adoption; your relatives, your kin.” Just take a look at any dictionary. Yet, starting in 2014 we will see the end of the term “mothers and fathers.” According to the 2014 Federal Student Aid application forms, there are only “parent one and parent two.” Folks, many today call it old-fashioned. It is contrary to the ways of the world. But the truth is what sets people free. Marriage and the traditional family were designed by God. Family has held societies together across the world since the beginning of time. Today we may be seeing the end of the family structure. And when the family is gone, will civilization be next on the agenda? On July 31, 2012 writer, activist and lesbian Masha Gessen said this in a speech given at the Sydney Writers Festival in Sydney, Australia. “Gay marriage is a lie,” she said. “Fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we are going to do with marriage when we get there.
