Folks, it’s a whole lot better to have your confidence in the LORD than to trust in people. Here’s Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. (9) It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.”
Psalm 2:12 “… Blessed [happy] are all they that put their trust in him.
Psalm 4:5 “Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.”
Psalm 18:30 “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”
Psalm 62:8 “Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”
Isaiah 12:2 “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”
I Timothy 4:10 “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”
It appears all through the Bible that the key to success in this world is confidence in the LORD. It’s just His way. Your life is blessed; you are eternally secure; He becomes your strength and your salvation all by simple trust. Yet, when it comes to walking in obedience to the LORD, we sometimes balk. Why? Because we haven’t yet learned the secret of true living. That secret is simply trust in the invisible God.
Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
First, the LORD desires to guide your life.
Second, continually pray for and seek the LORD’s will to be worked out upon you.
Third, trust Him to work out what is most pleasing to Him.
Fourth, watch how God works things out.
Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” What is it? “It” refers to “God’s Will for you,” “God’s ways at work upon you.”
God is infinitely wise. He knows how to handle people. And so, everything He does with you, He does for your benefit. And the greatest way to live your life in this world is to live with a surrendered heart. The New Testament puts it this way. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
As you can easily see; the LORD is working on your life. And He’s working everything together for your good. So, why insist on your ways and living your life apart from Him? Like King David, you and I have our goals and desires and plans. But also, like King David, we can submit ourselves entirely to the LORD – daily; so that He can work out His will and use your life to bring Him greater glory and honor.
C.S. Lewis puts people in two categories in his essay called “The Great Divorce.” He says "There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, in the end, 'Thy will be done.' (C.S. Lewis in “The Great Divorce).”
David, the King, saw the LORD as The Great King. He knew what you and I are learning; that the LORD’s will is always best. God’s desire is to write the last chapter in the situation you are in today. Let Him have His will now.
First, the LORD desires to guide your life.
Second, continually pray for and seek the LORD’s will to be worked out upon you.
Third, trust Him to work out what is most pleasing to Him.
Fourth, and finally, watch how God works things out.
One of the greatest prayers you’ll ever pray and one that’s worth memorizing and praying to the LORD continually is the one I call “The Prayer of Surrender.” It’s really your prayer and it’s mine.
"LORD, I submit all that I am to you; my spirit, my soul, and my body. Do with me what is most pleasing to you. Work out Your will upon me today."
Have you surrendered your life into His hands – just for today? Knowing that He’s got tomorrow and all your tomorrows well in hand? As you know, it’s always best to apply the principles of the Bible to your circumstances. Is this your prayer? If not, why not?
And for those who have never repented and believed on Christ, here’s the most important question you’ll ever be asked. What will you do with Jesus Christ? He is the Only One Who can save you from the penalty and power of your sins. Here’s what you need to see. Jesus Christ came to the earth to die to pay the penalty for your sins. And, today, if you will repent of your sins a9nd put your trust on Christ for eternal life, you will immediately become a child of God. You will receive the Free Gift of eternal life. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
It’s your sin that separates you from Him. Here’s what He says about that. Isaiah 59:2 says this. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
The Scriptures teach that Today is the Day of Salvation. Why not right now pray the salvation prayer?
Here’s that wonderful prayer. “I admit to You that I am a sinner and deserve Your justice for my sins. I now see that you are a God of grace and that by grace I can be saved. Here is a simple and a wonderful salvation prayer. You only need to pray it once and the LORD forgives you forever and you become His child. “I admit to You that I am a sinner and deserve Your justice for my sins. I now see that you are a God of grace and that by grace I can be saved. Please forgive me of my sins. I receive Jesus Your Son as my Savior and LORD. Amen”
So what will you do this week with these Scriptures? Will you look to the LORD for His free gift of salvation?
