Page Five: “Pleasing
God By Being Grateful” 09/23/2012
Colossians 1:13 “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:…”
So often we Christians wonder just what does it take to please the LORD. And we wonder and try and struggle and wish we could just be more pleasing to Him. And right here in the Bible He tells us what pleases Him. One, we please Him as we are being fruitful in every good work. Two, we please Him as we increase in the knowledge of God. Three, we please Him as we are being strengthened with all might. And four, we please Him as we give thanks for the amazing inheritance He has given to us. And we please Him as we give Him thanks for His amazing work on our behalf Today’s question then is this. Are you giving the LORD thanks for that amazing inheritance and for that wonderful work of deliverance? Remember, you please Him most when you do what He says to do. So, folks, please God by giving Him thanks today. And finally, no wonder Paul says being grateful is pleasing to God. The more grateful you are for the spiritual things God has given you in Christ, the more He is pleased and honored. And so, again, first, are you grateful for who you are in Christ? Second, are you grateful for what Christ had done for you? Are you grateful that you have been set free from sin? God’s way is for us to live a life that is most pleasing to Him. And that’s a choice you can make today. Folks, this is God’s way. This is God’s work. |
The question is this. Are you submitting your heart to Him to let Him do His will in and through you?
Now in closing, let me make you aware of just this one wonderful truth. Today is the day of salvation. Today is the day to repent and receive Christ as your Savior and LORD. When someone admits they are a sinner before God and comes to Him in repentance and true faith, he is saved and then begins to bear the fruit of good works. John 3:16 says this. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” Fortunately for us God extended His mercy to us at Calvary. Your sins became His sins. He took your sins on His body and paid the penalty for those sins on the tree we know as the Cross of Calvary. Why? Because mercy is what draws each heart and moves us into the condition of blessedness with God. What will you do about your sins today? • “I Repent” = I change my mind about God, Christ, my sin, and God’s free gift of salvation. •“I Believe” = I simply trust the Lord Jesus Christ alone as the One Who paid the entire penalty for my sins. And in believing, I make Him Lord over my entire life. “LORD, thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you that Your forgiving me is fully and completely. Thank you for the work of Jesus Your Son who paid the entire debt so that I can enjoy the full debt cancelled.” Today, will you receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior? Shall we pray?
