What does a Sunday Service look like?

Parking is open. There is a parking lot in the back and many even park along the driveway entrance. There is both a main entrance on the ground level and a handicap ramp for those with limited mobility.

Regardless of which entrance you use, you will enter into the lobby and be greeted by a few people that will welcome you, answer any questions you may have and offer any directions you may need.

Attire is Varied

There really is no one size fits all at EBC, and we do not have an official “dress code.” While the leadership will be more business casual, we have a range from formal, semi-formal, and casual.

We want you to feel comfortable as you worship with God’s people, and our desire is that in all things, including dress, the focus is off us and on God.

Congregation is Diverse

We are blessed to have a wonderful mix in our congregation. From toddlers to retirees, teens to middle aged, young adults to senior saints, singles to marrieds, there is no “typical” EBC church member.

Fellowship is Friendly

We cherish the time both before and after the service to fellowship. We are a congregation that loves to engage with each other and with visitors. We are not overbearing, but we do truly enjoy making conversation with others. Additionally, we make it a point to have “fellowship” type functions and services to foster deeper relationships at least once a quarter.

Worship is Purposeful.

Services last for an hour and fifteen minutes. Balance is key. Services are not “stuffy,” but they are reverent and regulative in nature. After opening announce-ments and a welcome, a call to worship segways into a clear and concentrated effort to move into orderly, heartfelt, God-pleasing worship.

Following a time to quiet our hearts and ready our minds for worship, we have a responsive reading of Scripture, and then sing theologically rich and doctrinally sound hymns and songs. The entire service is a build up to what is the center of the weekly service - the preaching of God’s Word.

Preaching is Expository.

Since God has spoken through His Word and what He has said has not changed, the climax of our worship is centered on the preaching of God’s Word. We never approach the text with what we want it to say, wish it would say, or think it should say, but rather what God has said.

In the simplest of terms: the biblically prescribed and historically prominent method of expository preaching is to unashamedly unpack, unleash, and unhide the main point of what God wants us to know. The message will have a main point, an outline, and clear truths that are all directly interpreted and shaped by what God says in the text.

The Bible is its own boundary and will be transformative when its message is drawn out accurately, interpreted rightly, and applied relevantly. Most often each week, we will work from beginning to end, line by line and verse by verse through both the Old and New Testament books of the Bible.

What do Your Other Services Look Like?

Sunday School: We have weekly smaller groups that meet for Sunday School. For the young people, we have classes for younger ages and a class for the teens. These classes are taught from a curriculum with relevant biblical teaching that are age appropriate and biblically applicable. The adult classes vary by quarter, and we seek to have a balance in accommodating learning styles. Sometimes we have a more formal type of a series as we delve deeper into more theological and biblical topics; while for other periods, we are in small groups for men and woman where we stick to a guided book for direction but also foster a spirit of learning through group discussion.

Wednesday night service: Our Wednesday evenings are a more informal setting with a special intimate format where we pack a lot into our one hour together. We sing a few songs, spend about 25 minutes in Bible study, share prayer requests, have a time of prayer, and enjoy fellowship with one another.
