God Answers Prayer (March 11th, 2012 - Page 3)
A.W. Tozer once said this “What comes to our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” [Found on www.bethanybible.org - the Knowledge of The Holy (San Francisco: Harper & Row, Publishers, 1961), p. 1.].
Is the LORD unwilling to listen to you? Is He unwilling to supply your needs? Is He an uncompassionate father? Or is He the Perfect Father Who both knows your heart and your needs? You see, here’s the LORD’s simple promise.
(11) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
When King David chose to yield to the temptation to sin with Bathsheba, his Heavenly Father was clearly displeased. Yet, God never loved David any less than before his sin. And, as you read the stories after II Samuel chapter eleven, you discover that David did repent. He did confess. He did humble himself. And he did pray.
First, believe His eternal love is you-ward.
Second, pray when you are in need.
Third, God has already promised to answer you.
Fourth, God answers prayer.
Many of you have prayed for Paul Gozzi. And God has answered. Many of you prayed for Steve Pierpont. And God has answered. Many of you have prayed for Joe Richards. And God has answered. Many of you are praying for MaryAnn Poulin. And God is answering. Many of you have prayed for Claire Herrle. And God is answering.
God answer David when he prayed. He will answer you when you pray because He is your Heavenly Father.
When you’ve got a need, go to Him. And as you go, watch your faith level rise. Keep your heart yielded to Him.
We are about to partake of the Lord’s Table. Come to Him just as you are. Look at Him and then look to Him for, not only the wonder of His forgiveness; but also the wonder of His loving care for you. And come to partake at His table today.
Folks, you’ve heard me say this before. I’ll say it again. Don’t look down when you can look up. God is more concerned about you than you will ever know. He’s fully aware of you and your situation and your needs. And He’s in this continual love relationship with you. He only has your best interests at heart. So, you can trust Him and pray today. He’s waiting to you’re your voice and to supply your need.
Jesus went to the Cross, not for His sins, but for yours and mine. Will you repent of your sins today and receive Him as your Savior and LORD? If not, why not?
Here’s the simple and wonderful Good News. We are sinners by nature, by choice, and by habit. Yet, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” He’s a God of complete and glorious love – for you and me.
Will you repent and believe today?
“I Repent” = “I change my mind about truth, God, Christ, my sin, and God’s free gift of salvation.”
“I Believe” = “I simply trust Jesus Christ alone as the One Who paid the entire penalty for my sins.”
“LORD, thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you that Your forgiving me is full and complete and never half. Thank you for the work of Jesus Your Son who paid the entire debt so that I can enjoy the full debt cancelled.”
Then, as a child of God, the prayer of surrender is always in order.
Prayer of Surrender: “LORD, right now I submit all that I am to you, my spirit, my soul, and my body. Do with me what is most pleasing to you. Work out Your blessed will upon me today. I trust you and I know you love me. Amen”
Men, please come to the table as we prepare for the elements of the table to be shared.

Second, pray when you are in need.
Here’s King David outside the palace. His son Absalom has usurped his authority and his throne. David and some of his faithful have been chased away from home. And what does David do? He prays.
By the way there’s a Psalm that David wrote during this time when Absalom had overthrown David. Here it is. Psalm three.
Psalm 3:1 “A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
(2) Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. (3) But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
(4) I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. (5) I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. (6) I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
(7) Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. (8) Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.”
