The only one who really thought he could put an end to Jesus was the devil. Satan entered into the heart of Judas and caused him to betray Jesus for no more than thirty pieces of silver. Yet, we know the end of the story. We know Who the True Victor really is. We know that the Son of God Who did lay Himself down to die, not only died, but He also rose from the dead. And the Cross became the means by which we are saved forever.
So, how can you face life’s greatest challenges?
1). Trust, trust God with each and every challenge. Here’s what we read in this passage.
II Samuel 15:23 “And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness. (24) And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city. (25) And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation:…”
Here’s a song written by John W. Peterson that describes the need to trust when you can’t see the reason or the end.
When I cannot understand God’s leading,
When I do not know the reason why
He should choose the path that lies before me,
Still to Him in faith I can reply;
When I feel the sting of disappointment
And my dreams lie crumbled in the dust,
When my best adds up to loss and failure
And the things that happen seem unjust;
When I face the furnace of affliction
And the pain seems more than I can bear,
When I think it strange–this fiery trial–
Still I’ll tell my blessed Lord in prayer
I will trust when I cannot see,
When I’m faced with adversity,
And believe Your will is always best for me–
I will trust when I cannot see.
Maybe to some, this is not the answer they think will accomplish anything. But it truly is the answer. You see, the only life worth knowing and living is the life that God lives in and through you. He is the One that can be trusted when you’ve made mistakes and you’ve sinned and when life is anything but fair. God will love you and provide for you when your challenges come.
1. Trust God. And how can you trust God when you are facing some very difficult challenges? Here’s how; by recognizing just Who it is that you are trusting. Here’s a word from the NT on this matter. I John 4:16 says this. “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” When you trust God in the midst of a very difficult experience, you are trusting Someone Who perfectly loves you. You see, the only kind of love God has for you and me is perfect love. And your trust is greatest when you have Someone Who perfectly loves you.
