Weak from fasting, a reproach to those who despised him, and David, like Jesus, and like you and I, we call to Heaven for help. (26) “Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy: (27) That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.” The LORD continually wants you to call upon Him for help. Why else would He allow you to experience the uphill battle days; and for some of us, many of them? And notice again verse twenty-seven. (27) “That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.” Ask Him to help you so that your life will be a means of revealing Him to those who know you.
Folks, it’s good to see the LORD. But did you realize others can see Him quite clearly when, in the locust-like days when we’ve been strewn around and have called upon your Heavenly Father for help, that He does two things. He sends His help and then, through you, He shows others what He is truly like.
The LORD may be even more greatly seen through your lengthening shadow, locust, knees weak through fasting days than when you are at your best and your days are sparkling and easy. That’s hard for us to accept. But, it appears to be true. So, don’t despair. The day isn’t over and the locusts will find some trees and settle down in them.
First, turn to the LORD.
Second, tell Him how you hurt.
Third, again from Psalm 109. Praise Him for Who He takes sides with. Psalm 109: 30. (30) “I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude. (31) For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.”
Folks, the LORD never forsakes those who look to Him in their time of need. He will never act contrary to His character. He loves those who are the neediest. And when you are needy or when you are your neediest and you go directly to the throne of grace for help, He’s there, waiting, ready, and fully able to do for you all you need done. Count on it. That’s the way He is. Now, what will you do this week, or today, if you are in your uphill battle day? Will you go to Him for help? Will you go to the One Who has all the help you need? Or will you faint in the day of adversity? You really do have a choice. The End
