6. He’s merciful and truthful. Proverbs 20:28 “Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy.”
7. He’s pure. Proverbs 22:11 “He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.” 8. He’s faithful. 9. He doesn’t take advantage of the disadvantaged. Proverbs 29:14 “The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.” 10. He was an obedient son. Hebrews 5:8 “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;…” 11. He’s honest. 12. He’s kind. 13. He’s trustworthy. 14. He’s wise. All of these qualities can be uncovered if you read the life of Jesus. But there is one kingly quality that might surpass them all. And that is this. Jesus the King, suffered greatly on behalf of His people. If anyone anywhere, Jew or Gentile, knows anything about Jesus Christ, it is this. He suffered and He suffered greatly. He suffered on behalf of His own. He suffered for us. Folks, Palm Sunday is a reason to celebrate. But celebrate this humble king for one more reason this year. Celebrate because Jesus, the humble king, suffered. Matthew 16:21 ”From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.” Luke 22:15 “And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer:…” (24:46) “And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:…” Acts 17:3 “Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.” Hebrews 5:8 “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;…” (13:12) “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.” |
I Peter 2:21 “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:…”
(2:22) “Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: (23) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:…” (3:18) “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:…” Here’s the message of Palm Sunday. Jesus Christ, the Jewish Messiah, the King of Israel, is the Suffering Savior. He and He alone has suffered for our sins. Your sins, your lies, your cheating, your stealing, your immorality, your bitterness, your hatred, your selfishness, your sins have separated you from God. Now, in Christ, you can become a child of God for the first time in your life by repenting of your sin and believing on Jesus Christ. He suffered on your behalf. Will you receive His suffering as your Substitute? Now, maybe you are here and seeing for the first time what God says in His Word about the humble King Jesus. His suffering was for your sins and my sins. Jesus Christ is Suffering Savior. And God shed His blood for your sins. Today, admit you are a sinner and not deserving of His Love. Tell God that you believe He sent His Son to suffer and die as your Substitute and that you want to be forgiven of all your sins. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” If you’d like, you can pray a pray like this one: “LORD, I admit that I am a sinner and in need of your grace. I believe that You sent Your Son to the Cross to die for me. Please forgive me of all my sins and make me Your child. Thank you.” |
