I’ve got another one here from the Gospel of Luke. Here is how Luke presents the LORD’s ancestry. Luke 2:3 “And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. (4) And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) …”
And here’s how the Apostle Paul presented Jesus. It’s found in Acts 13:22. “And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
(23) Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:…”
And, if you’ll allow me; I’ve got one from the Book of Romans. Romans 1:1 “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (2) (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) (3) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;…”
You see; every time a NT writer wants to teach the birth of Jesus Christ, he goes back to the fact that Jesus was born of the seed of David. So, yes, there is one house that is extremely important to God, the House of David. Through the House of David came our Savior and LORD Jesus Christ.
The entire Christian Church is in existence today because of the words that God spoke to David through Nathan that day some three thousands years ago. Jesus Christ, our Savior is of the house and lineage of King David. He is the Jewish Messiah. He came into this world to become the Substitute for our sins. Jesus came here to pay your sin debt. He died so that you might live.
So, what will you do with Jesus Christ? Here’s what Jesus did for you. Jesus Christ came to the earth to die to pay the penalty for your sins. And, today, if you will repent of your sins a9nd put your trust on Christ for eternal life, you will immediately become a child of God. You will receive the Free Gift of eternal life. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
It’s your sin that separates you from Him. Here’s what He says about that. Romans 3:23 says this. “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And Romans 6:23 “The wages for sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus.” Salvation is found only in the LORD Jesus.
The Scriptures teach that Today is the Day of Salvation. Why not right now pray the salvation prayer? Here’s that wonderful prayer. “I admit to You that I am a sinner and deserve Your justice for my sins. I now see that you are a God of grace and that by grace I can be saved. Here is a simple and a wonderful salvation prayer. You only need to pray it once and the LORD forgives you forever and you become His child. “I admit to You that I am a sinner and deserve Your justice for my sins. I now see that you are a God of grace and that by grace I can be saved. Please forgive me of my sins. I receive Jesus Your Son as my Savior and LORD. Amen”
So what will you do this week with these Scriptures? Will you look to the LORD for His free gift of salvation?
