Page Four: “Blessed Are The Peacemakers” 08/05/2012
And what greater wonder will the world around you see but the love and the grace of God at work when it’s you who has become a peace-maker in your family or at work or in your school or in your neighborhood.
A number of years ago Billy Graham wrote a book titled “Steps to Peace with God.” It was a Gospel message in a book. In it he said this. These are Steps to peace with God. One, one of God’s purposes for you is that you find His peace. Two, but there’s a huge problem to your finding this peace. And that problem is your sin. And to remove your sin, you try many, many things. He compared it to attempting to cross the Grand Canyon with your own ladder. It’s impossible. Three, God provided a bridge to Him. And that bridge is His Son Jesus Christ. Four, the moment you trust Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior, God grants you His forgiveness and His peace. And many, many people have come to Christ by this simple tract on peace. Folks, according to the Bible, the Source of peace is a Person; God. Second, Peace comes to the one who is rightly related to Jesus Christ. Third, a peace-maker, then, is someone who is called a child of God. Will you choose today to be a peace-maker? There are people in your life that need the message of the Gospel. There may also be those to whom you need to go to bring peace. What will you do? Here’s Jesus again. Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” |
Today I’d like to go to the piano and encourage your heart with a hymn about peace. It’s titled “A Mind At Perfect Peace with God.”
“A Mind At Perfect Peace With God” by Catesby Paget 1. A mind at perfect peace with God; O what a word is this! A sinner reconciled through blood; This, this indeed is peace. 2. By nature and by practice far, How very far from God; Yet now by grace brought nigh to Him, Through faith in Jesus' blood. 3. So nigh, so very nigh to God, I cannot nearer be; For in the person of His Son I am as near as He. 4. So dear, so very dear to God, More dear I cannot be; The love wherewith He loves the Son, Such is His love to me. 5. Why should I ever anxious be, Since such a God is mine? He watches o'er me night and day, And tells me "Mine is thine."
