“Something New, Something Old” - January 1, 2012
You see, everywhere you look, you will find evidence of a Creator God.
Paul wrote this to the Romans. Romans 1:19 “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them.
(20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
(21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
You see, it’s one thing to want to hear and learn about whatever is the “newest” thing. And it’s one thing to be an Athenian who would like to learn the latest doctrine so he can argue about it with his friends. But what makes life worth living is knowing the Creator personally.
First, He’s a sovereign Creator. He made everything.
Second, He’s immense (limitless). There’s no containing of God. Paul told the Athenians that God can’t “live” in a temple and not “live” everywhere at the same time.
Third, He’s Almighty. He has everything. He needs nothing. Again, Paul said this to the Athenians. (24) “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
(25) Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;…”
Fourth, He’s a personal Creator. (26) “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;…”
Fifth, He’s right next to each one of us. (27) “That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: (28) For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.”
And last he tells then what God expects of them. (30) “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”
(31) “Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
Folks, the Creator calls every single person to one basic: repentance.
The greatest need in your heart and the largest problem in your life is your sin and the fact that your sin is what separates you from God. The Prophet Isaiah said this so long ago. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2).
Yet, out of love, God sent His son to become your Substitute. Jesus Christ came here for the purpose of becoming your sin and then trading His life for yours.
John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The Apostle Paul in the Book of Romans says this. (Romans 3:23) “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” and (Romans 6:23) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
There’s only one way to receive God’s Salvation. It’s through God’s Son. And here’s how. The Bible says (Acts 20:21) “… repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Will you repent and exercise faith towards Him?
Today is the day of Salvation? What will you do about the condition of your heart for eternity?
• REPENT - “to change your mind about God, Christ, your sin, and God’s free gift of salvation.”
• BELIEVE - “to simply trust Jesus Christ alone as the One Who paid the entire penalty for your sins.”
Will you receive Jesus Christ as your personal LORD and Savior today? Here’s a simple salvation prayer for you to pray if you’ve never trusted the LORD for His free gift of eternal life. Salvation Prayer
“LORD, I admit that I am a sinner and in need of your grace. I believe that You sent Your Son to the Cross to die for me. Please forgive me of all my sins and make me Your child. Thank you.”
Everyone who calls upon the Name of the LORD will be saved.
