I found so many of these kings who simply needed to be reminded, just like you and me, whose strength we really need. Here’s what we read from the lips of King Hezekiah when Jerusalem had been attacked by the Assyrians. II Chronicles 32:8 “With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.”
And one more from the days of Nehemiah, after the Jews had returned from captivity. Here’s Nehemiah 4:20. Nehemiah 4:20 “In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.”
The battle is the LORD’s. Would you like to know who first used this phrase? It was a teenage shepherd boy on the day he went up against the Philistine Goliath. Here’s what he said. I Samuel 17:47 “And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.”
So what will you do this week with your giants? Will you look to the LORD? Will you go back to these promises? Will you take a lesson from the lives of these men of the Bible and begin to lean on the LORD and not on your own strength?
Here’s that daily, moment-by-moment prayer that is worthy of your memorizing and using. Here’s the prayer. "LORD, I submit all that I am to you; my spirit, my soul, and my body. Do with me what is most pleasing to you. Work out Your will upon me today." Have you surrendered your life into His hands – just for today? Knowing that He’s got tomorrow and all your tomorrows well in hand?
As you know, it’s always best to apply the principles of the Bible to your circumstances. Is this your prayer? If not, why not.
